Are you too busy for business?

'I’m too busy'. 'I’d love to but I’m very busy'. 'I’ll get round to that when I’m not so busy'. How often have you said any of those phrases? How many times a week do you hear someone else say those phrases? They’re very common and 'busyness' seems to have become a way of life for many people.

How to become an Intrepreneur

In this article I look at intrapreneurship and how successful organisations for the future can leverage organisational talent. In order to address this, I’m going to answer two questions. Firstly, what kind of environment will enable intrapreneurs to flourish and create value, and second, how can individuals develop and be recognised as an entrepreneur?

The Global Talent War

The global talent war (and even the local talent war!) is a head scratcher for many business leaders and entrepreneurs like you. How can you attract and retain the very best talent that is going to help you build, grow and innovate? How do you make an impact and create real value for your customers, shareholders, stakeholders and employees and yourself?

Help your client choose you

Have you ever walked down a supermarket aisle and looked at the choice that is now available to you? Take one small example – toothpaste. You can have fluoride, whitening, gum care, sensitive, whitening and sensitive, mint flavoured, protection for enamel – and the choice goes on. How do you choose?

Have you ever been at a networking event where you were cornered and talked at by the “it’s all about me” person from hell? I recall one such event at which I was the guest speaker. Leadership from within

Authentic leadership is not a new phenomenon and it has always amused me that there could ever be inauthentic leadership – but we still see it, don’t we?
Why is it we often feel that to be ourselves is hard or uncomfortable? What is going on in our minds and within us that makes us feel we shouldn’t be, do or say what we truly think or feel?

Do you waffle your way out of business?

Do you waffle your way OUT of business? Do you drone on about how great you are or how great your services are? Do you focus so much on trying to get your message across that you don’t listen? If you think this might be you, even on some occasions – read on!

"One can have a dream baby; two can make that dream so real... One can stand alone in the dark; two can make the light shine through”

The words of the Marvin Gaye song show us how playing the “Lone Ranger” (which I’ve written about before Are You Being a Lone Ranger) can mean you are missing out on big and many opportunities.

Authentic leadership is not a new phenomenon and it's always amused me that there could ever be inauthentic leadership – but we still see it, don't we? Do You Portray the REAL You? Why is it we often feel that to be ourselves is hard or uncomfortable? What is going on in our minds and within us that makes us feel we shouldn't be, do or say what we truly think or feel?
