Edward Wray, co-founder of Betfair
Meet the 'accidental' £2 billion entrepreneur ...
Edward co-founded Betfair in August 1999. After failing to convince the VC community of the value of their idea, Edward and partner Andrew Black successfully used the friends and family route to raise the capital they needed to start trading. Seven years later, the company was valued at £1.5 billion when Softbank bought a stake in the company, and the board is now considering an IPO which is likely to create a £2+ billion business valuation.
During this presentation, Ed will talk about the problems he and Andrew faced when trying to raise the initial capital, how they managed the growth and development of the business and where he thinks his business, and the UK economy, are headed in the year ahead.
He will also share some of the experiences and issues that he has faced which will help you avoid making some of the same mistakes they did.
So join us to hear about this fascinating journey and have a chance to quiz Ed yourself to find out how you can apply some of their lessons learned to turbo-charge your own success.
