We discussed lots of ideas and the below were the key findings:
- The space- physical differences within the space that provide a feeling of interaction
- Time differences- periods during the day that invite members to take a time out and meet one another
- Non-intrusive- although we want all our members to be open to collaboration, we will not be forcing it upon anyone, simply facilitating
- Lifting the burden- our members would like the support from Central, correctly timed to activate those opportunities
- Online and offline- be able to view the availability and opportunity within the space as well as online. A virtual forum as well as whiteboard for communication.
- Lunch sessions/rooms- this could provide introductions for members to just converse and get to know each other. Also the next step from viewing a fellow member’s profile and then making a physical connection.
It was also raised that there are elements of passive and active participation. There will be members who speak with the Central team about wanting us to facilitate introductions and others who are quite happy to dip in an out of it and introduce themselves when they are ready.
And, let us not forget play. This aspect of collaboration was raised by a few of our guests. Some of the best ideas and solutions are born out of simply having fun. Therefore our guests suggested having components that allow people to just relax away from work thereby allowing them to become comfortable to later on participate in collaboration.
Central in turn will be looking to create a diverse range of platforms whether that be break out spaces that are always there, whiteboards, meeting rooms, events, a chat to a member of staff etc, that will allow everyone to collaborate in the way they feel is most comfortable with.
