"The organic growth of the Houzz community has been overwhelming, and the feedback on Houzz.com tells us that we have struck a chord within the home design community" Inspired by their own remodeling experience, Silicon Valley couple Adi Tatarko and Alon Cohen created Houzz as a digital solution to clipping design photos from magazines and stuffing them into a folder. Since its inception in 2009, Houzz has grown into the largest online home design photo database. On Houzz.com, users can:
- scroll through more than 60,000 full-size home decor photos uploaded by 10,000+ design and remodeling professionals
- save favorite photos to their personal ideabooks
- find design professionals in their area and send them ideabooks to jumpstart projects
- tap into Houzz's passionate community for design advice, tips and trends
The site has spawned a highly engaged and robust community of homeowners, professionals and general home design enthusiasts. Already, more than 130,000 personal ideabooks have been created, with new ones added every hour.
Houzz has also recently released its next-generation iPad app, available for free on the iTunes App Store. The app brings the swipe-and-touch experience to the Houzz experience. The app may be viewed in an online video demonstration.
"The organic growth of the Houzz community has been overwhelming, and the feedback on Houzz.com tells us that we have struck a chord within the home design community," says Adi Tatarko, CEO of Houzz. "Our funding allows us to continue to innovate in the home design space, beginning with our groundbreaking new iPad app that we believe will simplify how users search for inspiration and realize their design dreams."
