Intel Capital splashes the cash in funding spree of 18 investments in as many days

Intel Capital, Intel's global investment organization, has announced the completion of no fewer than 18 investments in a range of innovative technology start-ups from 11 countries totaling $77m.

According to Intel Capital's TechCrunch bio, since it's launch in 1991, Intel Capital has invested more than US$9.5 billion in over 1,050 companies in 47 countries. In that timeframe, 175 portfolio companies have gone public on various exchanges around the world and 241 were acquired or participated in a merger. In 2009, Intel Capital invested US$327 million in 107 investments with approximately 50 percent of funds invested outside the United States and Canada.

The latest round of investments include:

  • Intel Capital has invested $3m in unattributed funding in early stage start-up technology Althea Systems
  • Intel Capital has provided $3m in Series A funding to enterprise IT design company Adaptivity
  • Intel Capital have invested an undisclosed sum in Lilliputian Systems a provider of mobile power solutions for consumer electronics devices.
  • Intel Capital have invested an undisclosed sum in Taifatech a fabless semiconductor company specializing in high performance controllers that connect devices to each other or to the network.
  • Intel Capital have invested $40m in SilkRoad technology provider of a full suite of web-based talent management solutions.
  • Intel Capital invested an undisclosed sum in Rock Flow Dynamics a developer of software for the petroleum industry
  • Intel Capital participated in $8m Series C funding round of mobile video solutions provider Ortiva Wireless
  • Intel Capital invested an undisclosed sum in Videon Central creaters of high performance digital video solutions for the consumer electronics market
  • Intel Capital invested an undisclosed sum in De Novo an IT-infrastructure transformation and optimization, data center engineering systems, software infrastructure solutions, and information lifecycle management, as well as banking technologies company based in the Ukraine.
  • Intel Capital invested an undisclosed sum in IPTEGO a German company which develops and provides software and hardware appliances for the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) industry.
  • Intel Capital has invested $17m in Verismo Networks an Internet TV platform.
  • Intel Capital has invested in a Series A funding round of boo-box, a Brazilian technology-based developer of social media advertising
  • Intel Capital has invested in Winchannel a Chinese efficient market feedback company.
  • Intel Capital has invested $5m in YuMe a video advertising technology company that makes professional video profitable for publishers and effective for advertisers
  • Intel Capital invested $14m in unattributed funding to mobile app developer Layar
  • Intel Capital provided $1.85m in seed funding for Yummly a semantic recipe search service.
