Tech City is a cluster of technology, digital and creative companies based around Shoreditch and the Old Street area of East London. It is the fastest growing technology hub in Europe and, worldwide, it is second only to Silicon Valley. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is determined to ensure that it becomes the digital capital of Europe and is taking steps to encourage businesses to open there. The conference on Friday 8 July is one part of the Government's overall strategy to encourage trade and investment and, in particular, Tech City's development.
Speaking about the event, the Trade and Investment Minister, Lord Green said:
“I am delighted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are giving their very public support to Tech City and to British business.
Tech City is key to Britain's high-tech future. The Government is committed to bringing innovative investment to East London, and to every part of the UK. It is Europe’s fastest growing technology hub and so far over 300 organisations have set up there.”
