Baanto International Ltd. has announced that they have completed a Series "A" round of funding that included Christie Digital Systems Canada Inc. as the lead investor.

The funding has been earmarked to enable Baanto to continue to enhance its growing range of advanced multi-touch products based upon the proprietary and patented ShadowSense technology. ShadowSense touch technology was recently integrated with Christie MicroTiles for the first time at InfoComm in an interactive game display on Christie's booth during the show.

Baanto systems, which are based on a breakthrough in optical sensor technology and its application to object tracking, are capable of highly accurate tracking of active or passive objects in both 2D and 3D. The use of Baanto technology in touchscreens, a passive 2D application, implements true multi-touch functionality without compromising performance or responsiveness. Featuring unparalleled scalability, the technology can be used as a cost effective, direct replacement for almost every current touch technology for displays ranging in size from 8" to over 120".

Bob Rushby, Chief Technology Officer at Christie Digital Systems Canada Inc. said: "As a world leader in the electronic display industry, Christie has been looking for touch solutions to complement its product line. We believe that BaantoTM ShadowSenseoffers an important technology that has significant benefits in terms of performance, scalability and flexibility."

Joe Kotas, CEO of Baanto, said: "Customer demand for touch in digital signage and other large display deployments is growing rapidly and Baanto is well positioned to provide the scalable, cost effective products that the market is demanding. Touch solutions based upon our ShadowSense technology offer best in class performance and overcome many of the integration, environmental, contamination, and ambient light issues that challenge and compromise other touch technologies deployed in public venues. It's an exciting growth area and we're pleased to have been selected by Christie to work with them in bringing large, high performance multi-touch systems to the market."
