Business travel may have taken a back seat over recent years in line with the downturn in the global economy, but there are signs that the business traveller has returned. As many businesses spent last year at home cutting costs, they now need to start travelling again to drive revenue.
An indicator of a rise in business travel is global hotel group InterContinetal's latest results, which show double digit growth in areas popular with business traveller's like Shanghai and Germany. After all when it comes to driving the top line, there is only so much that can be done behind a desk or by conference calls and skype, before a face-to-face chat is required to drive business and seal the deal.
So with business travellers starting to take to the air again, what advice should you heed before packing your laptop and heading to the check-in desk?
1. Quite simply the most important thing is to back up all your data before you travel
2. Be cautious about taking sensitive company information with you. The best advice is remove this information completely from your machine.
If you are travelling without your laptop, unlikely, but just on the off chance then follow this advice:
1. Never store passwords or login details on a shared machine
2. Always close the browser and log out when you have finished your session.
