Germany-based online game publisher Neonga has secured €2m in a Series A funding round

Neonga, a German games start-up based in Berlin, has raised €2 million ($2.8m) in Series A funding from a consortium of private investors, including High-Tech Grunderfonds and VC Fund Creative Industries.The new company has certainly been attracting some gaming talent: it was formed by ex-Frogster CEO Rolf Kloppeland has since been joined by Stefan Hinz, another Frogster staffer who joins Neonga as Chief Marketing Officer. Chief Technical Director Benjamin Kaiser is also from Frogster. The funding round will be used to develop the infrastructure, the staff, the range of titles and marketing initiatives.

 

Neonga intends to launch its first free-to-play downloadable, browser-based games for Facebook and mobiles in early 2011.

“Neonga offers the creative breeding ground for the development of new strategies for marketing and customer relations, with deep-going know-how about online games, customers and global markets” said Stefan Hinz.  “Strong tools for building customer loyalty, fair and attractive partnerships and innovative games will make Neonga AG stand out in the international online games market. A new star is born!”
