The team’s performance on the track is dependent on its ability to monitor computer data in real-time. During racing and testing, huge amounts of data are gathered from the vehicle and continuously fed back to the pit lane systems and the UK factory in minute detail. If the computer systems are not working effectively, then this can have a severe impact on the competitiveness of the vehicle and its driver.
Adrian Collinson, Head of IT, Force India said: “In Formula One, there’s simply no room for error, waste or inefficiency as it directly impacts on our competitive performance. We benchmarked the major Internet security brands and found that AVG immediately improved our performance by detecting malware and viruses the previous protection had missed. In F1, the only policy to adopt is trust no one – so it’s critical that any route through which data can be extracted is fully covered with the highest level of protection – that’s why we chose AVG”.
Force India also requires the ability to communicate remotely and securely as its operation is split across three sites; the main facility in Silverstone, the wind-tunnel in Brackley and the race team which tours the world. The AVG product is so flexible, it works across these sites seamlessly. AVG’s solution also saves valuable time at the Team’s wind-tunnel test facility in Brackley which is no longer slowed by lengthy software updates.
Formula One is a dynamic, fast-changing environment and we are delighted that the performance of our AVG product means the Force India team can focus its resources on winning races without delays, distractions or interruptions.
Given that a Grand Prix race in India has just been added to the Formula One calendar for 2011, the popularity and focus on the Force India Formula One team is set to grow, putting even more pressure on the team and their systems to maintain their impressive performance.
