“This investment from such a luminary in tech investing is an outstanding vote of confidence for our young company,” said Yoav Shoham, co-founder of CafeBots. “Social is the new search, and it’s a category ripe for innovation. Kleiners’ new sFund will be a great launch pad for companies like ours that want to bring groundbreaking innovation to the social media space.”
CafeBots is the first company dedicated to Friend Relationship Management. By building applications that are useful, fun and scalable CafeBots wants to let people extract more information from and make better use of their social graphs. CafeBots was founded by a team of Stanford PhDs and is the first investment from Kleiner Perkins’ SFund.
“The way we all communicate on the Web is about to go through another massive transformation as basically the world’s population transitions to Facebook,” said Bing Gordon, partner at KPCB and CafeBots board member. “Tech innovators like CafeBots are standing on the precipice of huge opportunity and explosive growth potential and we’re excited that we’ll be along for the ride.”
