RRE was joined in the funding round by Founder Collective, LaunchTime and several other angel investors. The funding is said to have been raised to increase staff ahead of a national rollout from what is currently a New-York only service. John Pignata from Pivotal Labs has recently been signed on as CTO along with three other developers and HowAboutWe are reported to now be recruiting a marketing team ahead of a national push in the US in the next few months.
The site concept revolves around proposing and accepting ideas for dates by completing the sentence "how about we..." The traditionalism of the social interaction which the site encourages has gone down well with users, which has helped it get plenty of attention from mainstream media outlets when it launched. The site concept also enables a number of potentially very lucrative revenue streams beyond the traditional subscription fees of other sites.
