The terms of the deal have not been disclosed however it is believed to be a small six-figure sum and will see SVM founder Jill Asher become the editorial director of Technorati. Current Silicon Valley Moms Group editors Akemi Bourgeois and Vanessa Druckman will become the editors of the Technorati Women's Channel.
Founded in 2006, The Silicon Valley Moms Group has grown into an active community of more than 400 women and mom bloggers. The community has become well known for the quality of its topical, opinionated, and well-written content that is targeted at moms and presents an attractive audience for major advertisers.
Technorati Media's ad network has grown into the largest social media ad network with an audience of over 300 million unique monthly visitors a worldwide and nearly 150 million in the US. Technorati last year raised $2 million in Series D funding from existing backers as it sought a re-invent itself from a blog search engine to a blog ad network. That followed a 2008 Series C funding round of $7.5 million from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Mobius Venture Capital, and FG Incubation.
The SVMG bloggers will combine with Technorati's existing women bloggers to offer new content about parenting, fitness, finances, food & living and style. The womens' channel will feature women-centric sites with targeted content and social media ads targeted at women, wherever they are online.
