TuneUp Media, the publisher of TuneUp, the #1 plug-in for iTunes, today announced a second closing of its Series C funding that brings the total for the round to $6.3 million. The additional $2 million in funding, which was provided by previous investor IDG Ventures, will be used to develop a suite of new products, build out the team and increase marketing spend. TuneUp has raised $8.5 million to date.

TuneUp Media also announced two additions to its management team: Greg Nuyens, who joins the company as Chief Technology Officer and Tim Mitchell as Vice President of Product Management.

"IDG Venture's continued support of TuneUp is a testament to the strides we continue to make in the marketplace. The funding, together with the addition of Tim and Greg to our management team sets the stage for us to expand our product suite for a growing customer base of music lovers around the world," said Gabriel Adiv, Founder and CEO of TuneUp Media.

"TuneUp plays an important role for music fans who want to get the most from their digital music library," said Phil Sanderson, Managing Director of IDG Ventures in San Francisco. "We believe that TuneUp represents a very large additive opportunity to the iTunes ecosystem and are excited about developments at the company and the talent they are attracting."

Nuyens brings more than twenty-five years experience as a software entrepreneur, most recently as founder and CEO of Teleplace, a provider of virtual spaces for enterprise collaboration. His previous consumer and media experience includes serving as CEO of Devicescape, CTO of Neomar (now part of Motorola), and chief technologist at Inktomi. He also co-founded Ilog (now part of IBM), having started his career at Xerox PARC.

A recognized industry expert in the convergence of music, media and technology, Mitchell most recently served as a strategic and product consultant to Warner Pictures, advising on consumer product offerings. He previously held multiple executive roles at IODA, a leading digital distribution and marketing company for independent record labels.

TuneUp recently announced record growth in 2010 in addition to surpassing 3 million registered users internationally. Since launching in 2008, TuneUp has automagically™ cleaned more than 1.5 billion mislabeled music tracks.
